Professional StaffPatrick W. Rhodes, CPA, MBA (prhodes@rhodescpa.com)Patrick began his professional career in 1974 working for a regional CPA firm in the Seattle area. In 1978, he founded Rhodes & Associates. Currently, he is the managing partner of Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC. He attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Idaho, and went forward to receive his MBA from Pacific Lutheran University. He also went to Boise State were he studied Engineering. Patrick is a former Captain with the United States Army and a Vietnam Veteran. His experience and expertise includes mergers, acquisitions, sales of business and investment interests, multi-state and international transactions and business ventures, start-up companies, business succession, estate planning, and investment advisory services. He also has extensive expertise in real estate, construction, professional and brokerage services, technology, manufacturing, distribution, medical services, finance, litigation support and not-for-profits. Patrick has been an active participant in various civic and service organizations for a number of years and is currently on the Board of Directors of the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce.
Eva S. Imaino, CPA (eimaino@rhodescpa.com) Eva joined Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC in 1989 and is a partner. Eva graduated with honors from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting in 1984. Prior to Patrick Rhodes, Eva worked for one of the big international accounting firms as an auditor and also worked in private industry in a variety of accounting positions. She specializes in financial accounting and reporting, tax planning and compliance, and succession planning for closely held businesses. She has extensive experience and expertise in the professional services, not-for-profit, distribution, manufacturing, real estate, and construction industries.
Melani M. Joyal CPA (mmarkovich@rhodescpa.com)Melani joined Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC in 1991 and is a partner. Melani graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1991. She has vast experience and expertise in retirement plan design, audit and administration, financial statement attestation, and income tax work for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and not-for-profit organizations. She has extensive experience and expertise in a variety of medical practices services, construction, real estate, and manufacturing industries.
Laura A. Koenig, CPA (lkoenig@rhodescpa.com)Laura joined Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC in 1995 and is a partner. She began her career in public accounting in 1987 working for an International CPA firm as a tax professional. Since then, she has held a variety of positions in public accounting. She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. Her experience includes income taxation and related issues for federal, state and local purposes. She specializes in estate and succession planning and acquisition and sale of businesses. She has extensive experience and expertise in the fishing, distribution, manufacturing, real estate, and construction industries. In addition she is involved in financial accounting, auditing and business consulting.
Edward L. Fietz, CPA (efietz@rhodescpa.com)Ed joined Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC in 1993 and is a partner. Ed graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1993. He has extensive experience and expertise in the construction, real estate development, brokerage and professional services, manufacturing, and distribution industries. He also has experience in the private sector as a Controller for a local construction company. He specializes in financial accounting and reporting in addition to individual, partnership, and corporate taxes. Kenneth G. Bussey, CPA (kbussey@rhodescpa.com)Ken is a partner at Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC and has been with the firm since 2000. His practice includes working primarily with closely-held businesses and executives. He serves a broad base of industries providing tax planning, consulting, and compliance needs. He has extensive experience in financial statement engagements, tax planning and compliance. Ken received his Bachelor of Science degree from Central Washington University (Ellensburg). He also serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Pediatric Interim Care Center in Kent Washington.
Nellie V. Kanichuk (nkanichuk@rhodescpa.com)Nellie began her career with Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC in 1998 after graduating from Green River Community College with an Associate in Applied Arts degree in Accounting. Nellie also has an Accounting Degree from Riga, Latvia. She is a native of Ukraine and speaks fluent Russian/Ukrainian. She specializes in income tax preparation for individuals, partnerships, and corporations. In addition she has experience in financial accounting, preparing payroll and business tax returns, and monthly bookkeeping. Stephanie DeLaVergne (sdelavergne@rhodescpa.com)Stephanie graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 2001 with a concentration in accounting. Prior to joining Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC in 2003, Stephanie worked for one of the big national accounting firms as a tax accountant and also worked in private industry. She specializes in tax planning and tax compliance for individuals, partnerships, and corporations, in addition to financial accounting and reporting. She has experience in the manufacturing, real estate, distribution, and construction industries.
Burton Wold, CPA (bwold@rhodescpa.com)Burton graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 2002 with a concentration in accounting. He also attended graduate school at the University of Washington, where he received a Masters in Professional Accounting in 2003 with emphasis in the area of audit and assurance services. Burton began his professional career working within the audit group of a “Big Four” public accounting firm. Burton joined Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC in 2005 and has experience in the manufacturing, construction, professional and financial services industries, as well as employee benefit plans. He specializes in financial accounting and reporting, in addition to tax compliance.

He graduated with a degree in Business Administration and achieved highest honors. He specializes in individual, partnership, and corporate income taxes, and tax planning.
Michelle R. Short, CPA (mshort@rhodescpa.com)Michelle graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1998 with a concentration in accounting. She began her career in public accounting in 1998 working for a national firm, and has over nine years of combined public accounting and private industry experience. She specializes in financial accounting and reporting, which involves the planning and execution of audits, reviews, and compilations. She has experience in the not-for-profit, construction, manufacturing, and distribution industries. Michelle joined Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC in 2006.
Gregory Jackson, CPA, CMA (gjackson@rhodescpa.com)Greg graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 1987 with a concentration in accounting. In addition, he holds a Graduate Certificate in Taxation from Golden Gate University. He has prior experience in both private industry and public accounting and also operated his own accounting firm for a number of years. He specializes in individual, partnership, and corporate taxes and tax planning. He has experience in the engineering, legal, construction, mortgage, and import-export industries. Greg joined Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC in 2006.

Linda Goto (lgoto@rhodescpa.com)Linda graduated from La Sierra University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. Linda began her professional career working for a CPA firm in Hawaii and she has also worked in private industry. Family life kept Linda at home since 2001 until she joined Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC in 2007. She specializes in individual, partnership, and corporate income taxes.Nicholas S. Joaquin M. Kirk, CPA, MST (jkirk@rhodescpa.com)Joaquin graduated from the University of Idaho in 1992 with Bachelor of Science degrees in both Finance and Accounting. He also has completed his coursework towards a Masters degree in Taxation with Golden Gate University and will receive his degree in May of 2008. He has prior experience in both private industry and public accounting. He has experience in the engineering, manufacturing, construction, and service industries. He specializes in state and local income tax, sales and use tax and cost segregation. Steve has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, a Bachelor of Business Administration, McKendree College, and an Associate Degree, Computer Science, Community College of the University. Steve specializes in individual, partnership and corporate taxes and tax planning. He has experience in legal, construction, trucking, and service industries. Steve is a retired Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force.
Stephanie Stryker (sstryker@rhodescpa.com)Stephanie is the firm’s executive assistant and property manager. She began her career with Patrick Rhodes & Associates, PLLC in 1999 after graduating from Pierce Community College with an Associates in Applied Arts degree. She specializes in the firm's various administrative and bookkeeping duties as well as manages real estate in the area, including all accounting, maintenance and tenant agreements and matters.
Heather Richey (hrichey@rhodescpa.com)Heather is one of the firm's administrative assistants, which includes handling any of the firm’s administrative duties. In addition, she also does some light bookkeeping for the firm and some clients. She started with Patrick Rhodes in November of 2002. Prior to working for Patrick Rhodes & Associates, Heather worked as an administrative assistant for an employment agency.
Jo Lynn Dowell (jdowell@rhodescpa.com)Jo Lynn joined Patrick Rhodes & Associates in 2007 and is the Firm Administrator. She began her professional career in commercial banking. Her positions have included credit analyst, commercial loan officer and most recently, controller/payroll manager for a manufacturing company. She manages Patrick Rhodes & Associates’ office and performs the office bookkeeping duties.
